Meet Jason Amurao
Jason Amurao was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Oxnard, CA at 3 years old. He has lived in Ventura County ever since. After high school, he started volunteering at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard while attending community college at Oxnard College. It was through his internship as a volunteer where he found out that he wanted to become a registered nurse. Providing patient-centered care for those in need truly motivated him to pursue his career in nursing. He graduated with Magna Cum Laude at California State University Channel Islands in 2015 and started his nursing career at St. John’s Regional Medical Center shortly thereafter. He spent about 6 years in the telemetry unit and his last year in the acute rehabilitation unit. During his last 2 years as a registered nurse, he sought to further his education and skills as he wanted to provide more for his community. He enrolled in a family nurse practitioner (FNP) program at United States University and graduated with distinction in 2022, all while working full time as a registered nurse. He is a board certified FNP through both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Credentialing Center. He met Dr. Bloom while working in acute rehab and quickly found interest in working with him and his partner Dr. Phillip Nguyen as he learned more about Physical Medicine and Pain Management. Jason has a strong passion for fitness and bodybuilding and has even won several bodybuilding competitions. He has also trained multiple clients in reaching their health and fitness goals. Understanding the importance of maintaining a healthy body in-and-out attracted him to working in Physical Medicine. Now he has the ability to put both passions together and help those suffering from musculoskeletal disorders and other acute and chronic illnesses.
